Tim Keller, 72, was a pastor, author, and theologian who died on May 19, 2023. In May 2020, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and had been undergoing therapy for almost two years. On May 18, 2023, he accepted hospice care at his Manhattan residence and died the next day.

Biography
Timothy James Keller was born in the year 1950 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to parents Louise A. Keller (Clemente) and William B. Keller, who was a television advertising manager at the time of Timothy’s birth. Tim Keller got his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University in 1972, his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1975, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1981, where he studied under the direction of Harvie M. Conn.
Although he spent his childhood going to services at the Lutheran Church in America, it was while he was a student at Bucknell University that he was exposed to the teachings of the Christian faith through the work of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Later in life, Keller became an employee of InterVarsity and served in that capacity.
The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) conferred the ordination of pastor-hood upon Keller. Keller was also the Director of Church Planting for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) during the nine years that he served as the Pastor of the West Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Virginia. In addition to that, he was a member of the teaching staff at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he and his wife Kathy Keller were actively involved in community service.

The book “The Reason for God” was written by the author in response to regular challenges to the Christian faith that he encountered in the course of his ministry in New York City. The book was ranked seventh on the list of best-selling nonfiction books in the New York Times.
