Who is Adjoa Andoh?
Adjoa Aiboom Helen Andoh HonFRSL was born in the United Kingdom on January 14, 1963. She has performed in leading parts at the Almeida Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
She played Francine Jones in two seasons of Doctor Who, as well as 90 episodes of the long-running BBC hospital drama Casualty and the British soap opera EastEnders.
Andoh made her big screen debut in Clint Eastwood’s drama picture Invictus, acting opposite Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela’s chief of staff Brenda Mazibuko in the autumn of 2009.
She has played Lady Danbury in the Netflix Regency romance series Bridgerton since 2020. Andoh became an honorary fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in July 2022.

Biography
Andoh was born in the area of Clifton in Bristol. Her mother was from England and worked as a teacher. Her father was from Ghana and worked as a journalist and musician. She has a brother. Andoh spent her childhood in Wickwar, which is located in Gloucestershire. Her family relocated there after her father was offered a position with British Aerospace.
She went to Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School and then began studying law at Bristol Polytechnic, but she dropped out after just two years in order to pursue a career in acting instead.
