Christopher Brent Wood (born September 19, 1995) is an American R&B singer better known as Brent Faiyaz. He rose to fame after appearing with Shy Glizzy on the GoldLink hit “Crew” in 2016, which was certified 6 Platinum by the RIAA and garnered him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
His tracks “Wasting Time” with Drake and The Neptunes, “Gravity” with DJ Dahi featuring Tyler, the Creator, and “Mercedes” all charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021. Wasteland, Faiyaz’s second album, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart.

Brent Faiyaz was born Christopher Brent Wood in 1995 and he grew up in Columbia, Maryland. Faiyaz began making music when he was 12 years old. His parents were not always supportive of his musical ambitions, which Faiyaz explained was understandable because music “always distracted” him.

Career
Brent Faiyaz began his musical career when he was 12 years old. He made his debut in 2014 with “Solo EPs.” Brent’s first official release was “Allure” on January 19, 2015. On June 1, 2016, he released “Invite Me,” the lead single from his upcoming debut EP. The EP “A.M.” by Paradox was released on September 19, 2016, and received considerable critical acclaim.
Sonder was founded in October 2016 by Brent, Dpat, and Atu. On October 25, their first single, “Too Fast,” was released. GoldLink included him and Shy Glizzy on his single “Crew,” which was released on December 16, 2016. Duplion designed the cover art for Faiyaz’s debut extended play, Into, which was published on January 26, 2017.
