Rodel Pacheco Nacianceno, known as Coco Martin, was born on November 1, 1981, in San Fernando, Philippines. He was born to Maria Teresa and Ramon Nacianceno.

 After his parents divorced when he was very young, he moved in with his grandmother, Matilda, who raised him. With only his grandmother to support him, Coco spent much of his time doing menial jobs on the streets to survive.

While living with his grandmother, he often accompanied her to church to pray for a better future. Despite significant struggles, he managed to complete elementary and high school. He continued doing odd jobs to afford college.

According to sources, Coco Martin’s hard work eventually paid off. Despite their poor living conditions, he was able to attend elementary and high school at Capitol Institute in Novaliches.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the National College of Business and Arts in Fairview, Quezon City.

Before achieving fame in the film industry, Martin worked as a janitor in Alberta, Canada. He began his acting career under ABS-CBN’s talent agency, Star Magic, with a minor role in the 2001 film “Luv Text.” His breakthrough came with the 2005 independent film “Masahista” (“The Masseur”), earning him the ‘Young Critics Circle Award’ in 2006.

In 2011, Martin starred in “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” (“I Will Only Love You Once”), playing twins Alexander and Javier del Tierro. He continued to gain popularity with roles in top-rated series such as “Walang Hanggan” (“My Eternal”) in 2012 and “Juan Dela Cruz” in 2013. The series is one of ABS-CBN’s longest-running television shows, with over 1,500 episodes as of November 2021.
