David Miscavige is best known as the Church of Scientology’s leader. Miscavige is the official Chairman of the Board of the Religious Training Center (RTC), which controls Dianetics and Scientology’s copyrights and trademarks.
David worked as a delegate for church founder L. Ron Hubbard as a teenager. He was also the Sea Org’s Captain and a cameraman for Scientology training films.

Biography
David Miscavige was born in 1960 in Bristol Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to Ronald and Loretta Miscavige, a Roman Catholic Polish-Italian family. Miscavige and his twin sister Denise grew up in Willingboro Township, New Jersey.
Miscavige played baseball and football as a child, but he suffered from asthma and severe allergies. His father, a trumpet player, became interested in Scientology and took his son to see a Scientologist. A 45-minute Dianetics session, according to both father and son, cured his ailments.

Miscavige’s family joined the Church of Scientology in 1971 and eventually relocated to Saint Hill Manor, England, the organization’s world headquarters. Miscavige was conducting Scientology auditing sessions by the age of twelve.
Saint Hill served as his own auditor training ground, and the organization remembers him as the “12-year-old prodigy” who became the youngest professional Scientology auditor. Within a few years, the family relocated to Philadelphia, where Miscavige attended Marple Newtown High School.
Miscavige left high school on his sixteenth birthday in 1976, with his father’s permission, to move to Clearwater, Florida, and join the Sea Org, a Scientologist organization founded in 1968 by founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Career
By 1977, David was working as a cameraman for Scientology training films in La Quinta, California. L. Ron Hubbard, the church’s leader and founder, appointed David Miscavige as head of CMO and charged him with enforcing Hubbard’s policies within individual Scientology organizations. Hubbard ceased public appearances in 1980, and Miscavige assumed increasing responsibility within the Scientology organization.
By 1982, Miscavige had established a new organizational structure to handle Hubbard’s personal finances and to release him from any legal claims against the Scientology organization. He founded the Church of Spiritual Technology and the Religious Technology Center.
David Miscavige announced Hubbard’s death at the Hollywood Palladium in 1986. He was appointed as the leader of the Church of Scientology and given the title Captain of the Sea Organization.
