Career
Foreman began his career on a high note, taking the world by storm and winning a gold medal in the boxing/heavyweight event at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. In the years that followed, he broke even with a stunning winning streak.
But things changed when he met and was defeated by Muhammed Ali in the much-touted Zaire match “The Rumble in the Jungle.” Regrettably, Foreman retired in 1977 following a dismal match with Jimmy Young in Puerto Rico.
Ten years later, at the age of 40, Foreman took the bull by the horns and staged an astonishing comeback to the ring. He defeated Steve Zouski in Sacramento and had several memorable victories. The legendary boxer retired in 1997 with 76 wins (68 knockouts) and only roughly five losses.
To cap off his career in boxing, Foreman was inducted into both the World Boxing Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame. This explains why he is regarded as the ninth greatest heavyweight boxer in history.
