JoJo Starbuck was born on February 14, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama. She began figure skating at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks. She won the United States pair skating championship three times (1970-1972) with partner Kenneth Shelley. They also competed in two Winter Olympics (1968 and 1972).

JoJo Starbuck was born and raised in Downey, California. She began figure skating at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks. She was first paired with Kenneth Shelley for a show in 1959, when they were both small children. They started training together in 1961 and quickly became one of the top pairs teams in the world.
In 1968, at the age of 16, Starbuck and Shelley qualified to compete in the Winter Olympics. They finished 13th in their first Olympics, but they were determined to improve. In 1970, they won their first US National Pairs Championship. They went on to win the title three more times, in 1971, 1972, and 1973.
In 1972, Starbuck and Shelley competed in their second Winter Olympics. They finished fourth, their highest Olympic placing. After the Olympics, they turned professional and skated with the Ice Capades.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Starbuck pursued a career in acting. She appeared in several films and television shows, including New York Stories (1989), The Cutting Edge (1992), and Beauty and the Beast: A Concert on Ice (1996).
Starbuck is also a successful figure skating coach and choreographer. She currently teaches at the Essex Skating Club of New Jersey.
