Who is James Daniel Sundquist?

James Daniel Sundquist is best known for being the son of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix was a famous American singer, songwriter and guitarist. Jimi was very popular in the twentieth century for his music genres. Although his career only but lasted for four years, he is still considered one of the best musicians in history.

James father Jimi was a legendary musician who through his music passed knowledge and encouraging words to his audience. Daniel Sundquist on the other hand doesn’t play the guitar that much like his dad. He however sings sometimes.

James Daniel was born on October 5, 1969, in Stockholm, Sweden. As at the time of writing this article, he is 54 years old. Daniel was born to Jimi Hendrix and Eva Sundquist. Aside from being the son of Jimi, there’s currently no information about him. For the records, James Daniel is the only known child of Jimi and Eva.

Daniel Sundquist parents Jimi Hendrix and Eva Sundquist met in the year 1968. The couple met while Jimi was on a tour with his band in Stockholm, Sweden where Eva lives. Not too long, they got talking and they were also in contact even after Jimi’s tour came to an end. Nine months after Jimi and Eva got hooked up, James Daniel Sundquist was born.

Eva Sundquist informed Jimi about the pregnancy after Daniel has gone back with his music band since their tour was over. Jimi obliged to reunite with his son to Stockholm in 1970. Unfortunately, Jimi never got the chance to reunite with his son and mother of his child. Daniel Sundquist also never got to see his father as he passed away before he could keep to his promise of returning to Sweden.

The inheritance 

After the death of Jimi Hendrix, his father, that’s the grandfather of James Daniel Sundquist inherited all the properties of his late son. He also excluded everyone from having a share in Jimi’s fortune, including Daniel. When Daniel became of age, he sued his grandfather to court. All he had was paternity judgment affirmed by Swedish courts.

He filed a case in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that he is the rightful heir to his father’s fortune rather than his grandfather. The case took a very long turn. One of the major piece of property which was in contest was Jimi’s estate which was worth over $30 Million. Although the court accept James Daniel as the true heir, there was actually no concrete paternity test to confirm it.

During the whole process of going to court, Daniel opened up that he was being treated unfairly. “I just feel I’ve been treated unfairly. I want people to know that I am not a fake.” Hendrix Jr. was legally declared to be Hendrix’s son in 1975, even though no sample of the purported father’s blood was available.

Jimi Hendrix cause of death and obituary

Jimi Hendrix passed away in London while he was with his then girlfriend, Monika Danneman. According to sources, Jimi and Monika were just chilling together like normal couple would do, the ate together and Monika drove him to a friend’s house. Around 3.a.m she picked him up and drove back to her apartment where they just enjoyed each other’s company. They talk till 7.a.m before sleeping. On the morning of September 18, 1970, Monika woke up around 11.a.m and found Jimi unconscious and breathing abnormally. She call the paramedics and after he was taken to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at 12.45 PM.

For years the police kept investigating the actual cause of Jimi Hendrix’s death. It was also said that Jimi had taken pills to enable him sleep which he must have taken an overdose. From an autopsy report, Jimi Hendrix, James Daniel Sundquist father died of drug overdose. He died of asphyxia while intoxicated with barbiturates. “Monika also testified he must have died of 9 tablets of Vesparax sleeping pills” which she gave him because he was unable to sleep.
